Rotary International is a global service organization of business and community leaders who all believe in providing service to others, promoting integrity, and advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace. With regard to the Rotary mission, all Rotarians work together locally and internationally to:

• Promote peace
• Fight diseases
• Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
• Save mothers and children
• Support education
• Grow local economies

Each Rotarian is a member of a Rotary club, which meets weekly, usually at a mealtime. During the weekly club meetings, Rotarians listen to guest speakers and discuss club business. Additionally, clubs participate in community projects and support projects abroad. Frequently, local Rotary clubs in the same district work together or pair up with sister clubs abroad to support a project. Worldwide, there are about 35 000 clubs located in 167 countries and more than 1.2 million Rotarians. Rotarians can attend any club in the world at their weekly meetings. Rotary International is a non-political and non-sectarian organization that is open to all people, regardless of race, color, origin, gender, political or religious affiliation. The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self”.
